The City of Gatlinburg is
located just outside Great Smoky Mountains
National Park. Gatlinburg is a resort community
offering year round indoor and outdoor activities
for visitors of all ages. Gatlinburg is also the
second most popular place in America for honeymooners.
The busy little city in tucked away in the shadows
of the smoky mountains can easily accommodate romantic
getaways, family vacations, corporate meetings and
retreats, and of course honeymoons.
In the early 1900's, Gatlinburg was a small logging
town with only one hotel used by loggers and their
families mostly on weekends. After a hard week in
the logging camps, workers would join their families
for a weekend at the Mountain View Hotel in Gatlinburg.
After the formal dedication of the Great Smoky Mountains
National Park in September 1940, the hotel began
catering to tourists traveling to the newly created
National Park. The kitchen in the Mountain View Hotel
boasted some of the best chefs in the South preparing
delicious home cooked meals for guests. Evenings
at the Mountain View were mostly spent sitting in
rocking chairs on the long front porch which overlooked
what is now the city of Gatlinburg.
Gatlinburg boasts thousands of romantic chalets
throughout the mountainous area which are available
for vacation rental as well as a ski resort which
sits atop a mountain overlooking downtown Gatlinburg.
This romantic little city is located at the entrance
to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Many large
conventions, annual festivals and other special events
are held in Gatlinburg year round.
