4 Tips to Help You Plan the Perfect Picnic in the Smokies

May 16, 2016

Springtime is the best time to plan a perfect picnic in the Smokies. If you’re staying in a Smoky Mountain cabin rental, the perfect picnic can be had right outside your door!

Here are 4 Tips to Help You Plan the Perfect Picnic in the Smokies:

1. Planning Picnic Eats

What will you eat at your picnic? Our suggestion? Light foods. If you’re out and about in the Smoky Mountains, you’ll need to refuel, but you want the food to be light and easy to take with you. Keep the food simple and delicious. Bring power foods! Sandwiches are great picnic items. Pack condiments in packages (from fast food restaurants) to maximize room and avoid spoiling foods. Cheeses and fruits are great picnic snacks and help keep you energized if you plan to hike or walk. Make sure to plan your proportions so everybody is well fed and you don’t have an excess amount of leftover food.

2. Pick a Spot!

Where would you like to have your perfect picnic? If you’re staying in a Smoky Mountain cabin, grill out and have your perfect picnic on your porch! Our cabins have porches with some of the best views of the Smokies you can find anywhere! Grilling out makes for the perfect spring picnic with a breathtaking view of the mountains. If you’re planning a picnic on a hike or outdoor adventure, plan for a flat surface with plenty of room to enjoy the picnic! Open grassy areas in the shade are preferable areas for picnics!

3.Make a List

4. Make it Picture Worthy

Do you want your perfect picnic to be Pinterest picture worthy? (Of course you do, who doesn’t?) You’ll definitely want to snag a pic of your perfect picnic in the Smoky Mountains. Bring a bag that will f

it everything you need. If you’re going a short distance, bring a basket! It will make for the perfect photo. If you’re hiking, take it in a backpack! What makes for a better hiking photo than a backpack picnic? Tweet us your photos @DMRCabinRentals!
