Looking for a quiet weekend cabin getaway? Gatlinburg located in eastern Tennessee, may be just what you are looking for. Known as the “Gateway to the Smoky Mountains”, Gatlinburg has a rich history dating back to the 19th Century. The Oglesby family, from South Carolina, became the first settlers in the area and they named it White Oaks Flats because of the widespread white oak trees in the area.

There are numerous tales of how White Oak Flats became known as Gatlinburg. The most popular of those involves Radford Gatlin settling in the area in 1854. Gatlin opened the town’s 2nd general store which housed the area’s first post office in 1856. After this, the town’s name was changed to Gatlinburg.

Gatlinburg is an absolute treasure. It offers adventures and activities year-round for all ages. From white-water rafting to shopping to snow-skiing to Gatlinburg cabins, you are sure to find something to keep you busy. Enjoy the outdoors while camping or enjoy fine-dining at our eateries.
