Just because the weather has cooled off doesn’t mean you need to barricade yourself indoors. The Smoky Mountain region offers plenty of outdoor fun for those who don’t mind bundling up. If you want to keep warm and enjoy some of the most amazing scenery in the country at the same time, the Gatlinburg area offers plenty of hiking that you can enjoy even in the winter. And when you’re done, you can relax in one of our luxurious Gatlinburg cabins, right by the best hiking spots.
Although there are many great hiking spots in and around Gatlinburg, there are three that are perfect for winter adventures. Laurel Falls Trail stays open during the winter, and gets a little more serene as the usual summer traffic winds down. You can follow this beautiful paved walkway up to the frozen falls, getting about a 2.6-mile hike (roundtrip). Another perfect winter hike is the Huskey Gap Trail, which heads up the Sugarland Mountain and passes by many historic Appalachian homesteads. The entire trip is 4.2 miles long. Finally, check out the School House Gap, a more relaxing hike that has minimal elevation and a wide route so you can walk along with your entire group. In the winter, this hike is perfect for seeing wildlife like deer and woodpeckers.
Once you’ve found the perfect hiking trail, it’s time to find the perfect home away from home. Mountain Magic is a lovely two-bedroom cabin from Diamond Mountain Rentals that offers peace and quiet for your family to relax. You’ve got a private hot tub, a pool table, and a stunning view that will ease all your worries every time you step out onto the deck. This cabin is very near to rivers and streams, so during warmer winters, you’ll be lulled to sleep by the burble of water. And you’re just a 10-minute drive from downtown Gatlinburg!
One of our most accommodating two-bedroom Gatlinburg cabins is Bearly Workin’, which sits within walking distance of Ober Gatlinburg, and is just five minutes away from downtown. This cabin includes tons of amazing amenities, and boasts some of the best views, in winter especially! You’ll get a chance to witness the snow-topped mountains from every window, and you can maintain a little more privacy thanks to bedrooms on separate floors. Perfect for groups of adults wanting a more exciting vacation.
One of the best parts about booking a stay in our Gatlinburg cabin rentals is how easy it is for everyone in the party to enjoy their vacation.
