It’s December which means one thing; we can finally enjoy winter activities in Gatlinburg again! Believe it or not, the Smokies are a great place to spend the winter, especially if you love having fun in the snow! When the winter break or the holidays roll around, you can have a blast in this area. We love ice skating, skiing, snowboarding, tubing and more! What is your favorite winter activity to enjoy? Some of us are itching to hit the slopes again, others are looking forward to a warm short stack of their favorite pancakes at the Pancake Pantry.

Whatever you are looking forward to, it is no secret that Gatlinburg has some of the best winter activities to choose from! Book your private cabin and get ready for some big winter fun. Many of our cabins include fireplaces where you can curl up after a day out in the snow, and don’t forget to take a dip in the private hot tub when you want to warm up. Here are some of the best activities for families and visitors of all ages to enjoy in the winter weather in the Smokies:

Calling all winter sports lovers! If you are visiting Gatlinburg this winter, Ober is a must visit. This ski resort has more than slopes to keep you occupied. Let’s talk about all the fun you and your family can have this winter at Ober.

  • Skiing, of course. Ober is known for being one of the best ski resorts in the Southeast! Get your ski poles ready and hit the slopes this season! There are slopes for all skill levels, including child-friendly slopes, so you can have fun no matter your ability.

  • Snowboarding, we didn’t forget! Ober is known not only for its skiing but snowboarding as well! Want to snowboard but don’t have your own? No need to worry. Ober offers rentals on both skis and snowboards! At the bottom of the slopes, you’ll find the clubhouse is always filled with hot chocolate, coffee, and other delights to warm you up before you head out again!

  • Tubing, hold on tight! This family friendly winter activity is an Ober favorite! For our non-winter sport partakers, tubing down the mountain is just as fun! Plus, the whole family can enjoy this! Dress warmly and hold on tight! This is a great way to include your younger children in the winter fun while the older kids hit the slopes, and it also makes for a fun family photo opportunity for your holiday card.

  • Ice skating, who knew? That’s right; Ober offers an ice-skating rink for visitors to enjoy in their ski lodge. Don’t miss out on the winter fun! Lace up your ice skates and take a whirl at the indoor arena. Whether you’re just trying out ice skating for the first time, or you’ve been dancing on ice since you were a toddler, this rink has a place for you.
